Making your own shortcut keys on keyboard

SharpKeys is a registry hack that is used to make certain keys on keyboard to act like other keys. It allows you to move your keys around to suit your idea of how a keyboard should be laid out. You can even turn off keys on your keyboard.

Click on the 'Add' key to open up the 'Add new key mapping' dialog. Now, either select the keys you want to map from the list, or click on 'Type key' to press the key manually.
Once you are done, click on 'Write to registry' and you'll be asked to log off or reboot for the changes to take effect.

Blocking a site in a computer

To block a website in Internet Explorer in Windows 7, you just need to follow the following steps:
1. Go to C:\ (i.e. the drive where your Windows is installed) -> Windows folder-> system32 folder-> Drivers folder-> etc folder.
2. In the etc folder, open file 'host' in notepad.
3. At the end of this file, type  0.0.0.0 <site you want to block>
   E.g. 0.0.0.0 www.facebook.com
4. Save the file and exit

If you are not able to save the file in the same folder, then save it on desktop and then cut and paste it in the 'etc' folder.

GMail Drive

GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your GMail account, allowing you to use GMail ACCOUNT as a storage medium. GMail Drive literally adds a new drive to your computer under the My Computer folder. With GMail Drive you can easily copy files to your GMail account and retrieve them again.

In order for GMail Drive to operate, the computer must be connected to the Internet. Gmail Drive creates a virtual filesystem on top of your GMail account and enables you to save and retrieve files stored on your GMail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. You can copy files to and from the GMail Drive folder simply by using drag'n'drop like you're used to with the normal Explorer folders.

When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment. GMail Drive periodically checks your mail account (using the GMail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures. Because the GMail files will clutter up your Inbox folder, you may wish to create a filter in GMail to automatically move the files (prefixed with the GMAILFS letters) to your archived mail folder. Also, multiple computers can connect to one Gmail account thus allowing GMail Drive to act as a multi-user file server.

Consequently, restrictions on the Gmail service are also enforced when using GMail Drive. For example, files larger than 25 MB cannot be uploaded, as the maximum file size of Gmail attachments is 25 MB.

GMail Drive is an experimental package that depends on but is not provided by Google.

TRRAM- The new milestone of Transparent Electronic Systems

Ever wondered you could use totally transparent electronic devices say computer monitors and televisions. Clear electronic devices may make your room or wall more spacious by allowing electronic devices to be consolidated and stacked in small clear spaces. The new transparent devices will drive electronics in a new direction. TRRAM (Transparent Resistive Random Access Memory) is basically the first and the most important part involved in making a transparent electronic device.

A group of scientists at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have fabricated a working computer chip that is almost completely clear - the first of its kind. The new chip is similar in type to an existing technology known as complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) memory - common commercial chips that provide the data storage for USB flash drives and other devices. Like CMOS devices, the new chip provides "non-volatile" memory, meaning that it stores digital information without losing data when it is powered off. The Korean team is also developing a TRRAM using flexible materials. By integrating TRRAM device with other transparent electronic components, a total see-through embedded electronic system can be created.

Technically, TRRAM devices rely upon the existing technology known as Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM), which is already in commercial development. RRAM is built using metal oxide materials, which are transparent. TRRAM chip is built by sandwiching these metal oxide materials between equally transparent electrodes and substrates and hence it contributes to the transparent look of the RAM.

TRRAM will become one of the alternative devices to the current CMOS-based flash memory in the near future. The new devices have the potential to be manufactured cheaply because any transparent material can be utilized as substrate and electrode. They also may not require incorporating rare elements such as Indium. With transparent chips it will be possible to implement electronic hardware into the windshield of a car; it can be used in sunglasses or highly-fashioned transparent cell phones. It widens the area in which electronic devices can be implemented, making many concepts look much closer to the real life. Bendable screens, transparent chips - all these improvements are making electronics more flexible, stylish and easy to use.

This development can truly revolutionize the world of modern devices and gadgets. But transparent chips have some disadvantages too. Transparent phones would be much easier to hide or lose, and soldering a fully transparent chip is also not easy. Also the durability of these chips is in question.

So let us see how this technology works out. Though this technology doesn't have major disadvantages or drawbacks at present that may prevent it from being widely used but still it may take time for TRRAM to be used as a working prototype.

Infinite USB Memory Device(IUM)- The next generation Flash Drive

How many times have you been in the situation where you want to give your friend a bunch of files but your flash drive wasn’t large enough, it was reaching its storage limit or you kept confidential information on it that you didn’t want anyone else to see? You would either have to sort through the flash drive's contents deciding what to delete and what not to or you would have to use the drive back-and-forth several times to transfer all the files to some other storage device.

These days are gone because Infinitec has come up with a flash drive having infinite storage. The IUM does not actually store any content on the drive itself. Instead, it uses your laptop’s WiFi signal for connectivity and leverages your laptop’s storage capabilities as its own. The IUM allows you to share your entire hard drive as well as any servers, external hard drives or other storage space that your laptop can access. Ultimately, the more storage space that your laptop has access to, the larger the memory of the IUM will appear to be.

The first thing you need to do is to pair it with your laptop. The IUM pairs uniquely to a single laptop and this laptop becomes the host of the IUM. The pairing process is designed to uniquely identify your IUM from others that may be around. Your IUM will only work with your laptop while other IUMs will only work with their owners’ laptops. By pairing each IUM with a unique host laptop, you and your colleagues can all use your IUMs simultaneously without having any incompatibility or interconnection issues. You can select the data that you want to share on your IUM.

The data in IUM is highly secured because even if your IUM is lost or stolen, none of your files will be gone with it, as the IUM doesn’t store any content on itself. Your data will always be protected because it never actually leaves your PC.

Now you can use IUM as it performs functions similar to USB flash drives. There is no need to install software or download drivers. It is truly a plug and play device that is recognized by all operating systems.

The IUM is compatible with all major gaming consoles such as PlayStation3, Xbox360, etc. The IUM can be used to stream movies on DVD player, media player or latest generation TV by plugging into the USB port.
